We review your emissions data line by line against the GHG Protocol, verify your calculations, and issue a verification report and badge you can share with clients, procurement teams and investors.
Measuring your carbon footprint is the first step. Verification is what turns that data into something your clients, procurement teams and investors can rely on. Here is when it matters most.
Procurement teams increasingly require independently verified carbon data as part of supplier assessments. A verified footprint gives them the confidence to shortlist you, without follow-up questions about methodology.
A Carbon Reduction Plan backed by verified data carries more weight than one based on self-reported figures. Verification strengthens your submission and shows your methodology stands up to scrutiny.
Before emissions data appears in an annual report, ESG disclosure or investor questionnaire, decision-makers want to know the numbers have been independently checked. Verification provides exactly that assurance.
Our Footprint Reduced verification confirms a minimum 4.2% year-on-year reduction, aligned with Paris Agreement targets, so your progress stands up to external review.
Our climate science team handles the entire verification process. You provide the evidence, and we return a verified report aligned to the framework you need.
You provide your activity data: energy bills, fleet records, travel expenses, purchase invoices, employee commuting surveys. We send you a clear checklist so you know exactly what is needed.
Our climate science team reviews every data source against the GHG Protocol. We check calculations, cross-reference evidence, benchmark against industry norms, and flag anything that needs attention.
We produce a comprehensive verification report covering methodology, scope-by-scope results, intensity metrics, and conclusions. The report is aligned to the framework your stakeholders require.
You receive your Footprint Verified badge and verification statement. Embed the badge on your website, add it to email footers, and include the statement in procurement responses and investor disclosures.
Average turnaround from data submission to verified report: 5 working days
Each level builds on the last. Start with Footprint Verified, demonstrate reduction over time, and for organisations that choose to offset, verify the quality of your carbon credits.
Certifies that your reported carbon data is accurate, complete and aligned with the GHG Protocol. The foundation for every organisation starting its verification journey.
Certifies that your organisation has achieved a genuine year-on-year reduction in carbon emissions, verified across two consecutive reporting periods.
For organisations choosing to offset their residual emissions. We verify the correct purchase and quality of carbon credits, ensuring they meet the highest standards of environmental integrity.
Every verification includes a comprehensive report, your data populated into the Climate Essentials platform, and a traceable badge for your website and communications.

Our verification methodology is grounded in the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, the globally recognised framework for carbon accounting. We assess your data against the GHG Protocol's five principles: relevance, completeness, accuracy, consistency and transparency. Emissions are calculated using official UK Government GHG Conversion Factors published by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
Footprint Verified confirms that your reported carbon data for a single reporting period is accurate, complete and aligned with the GHG Protocol. Footprint Reduced goes further: it verifies that your organisation has achieved a genuine year-on-year reduction in carbon emissions across two consecutive reporting periods. A minimum reduction of 4.2% is required to align with international best practice under the Paris Agreement. You need Footprint Verified for at least two years before qualifying for Footprint Reduced.
We provide a clear checklist tailored to your organisation. Typically this includes energy bills (electricity, gas), fleet mileage or fuel records, business travel receipts, employee commuting data, waste disposal records, and profit and loss statements for spend-based calculations. You do not need to pre-calculate anything — we handle the methodology, emission factors and calculations as part of the verification process.
Once we receive your complete data and supporting evidence, the average turnaround to a finalised verification report is five working days. If there are data gaps or queries, our team will work with you to resolve them, which may extend the timeline slightly. We always keep you informed on progress.
Yes. Your verification report can be aligned to the framework your stakeholders require, including PPN 006, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, SECR and the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards. The report and verified data strengthen any Carbon Reduction Plan submission and provide supporting evidence for regulatory and procurement responses.
Yes. Our verification covers Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 categories, including purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel and energy-related activities, waste, business travel, events and employee commuting. The specific Scope 3 categories included depend on your organisation's operational boundary and reporting requirements.
Our verification is independent and follows GHG Protocol methodology, but it is not a UKAS-accredited ISO 14064 audit. For the majority of UK organisations reporting under PPN 006, SECR or UK SRS, independent verification provides the level of assurance that procurement teams and stakeholders expect. If your requirements specifically mandate UKAS-accredited assurance, we are happy to discuss the differences and help you identify the right approach.
You receive four things: a comprehensive verification report covering your methodology, carbon footprint results by scope and category, carbon intensity metrics and conclusions; your verified data populated into the Climate Essentials platform for ongoing tracking; a Footprint Verified badge for your website, email footers and procurement documentation; and a verification statement signed by our climate team.
