Audit-ready carbon reports
Produce clear, compliant, and auditable carbon footprint reports aligned with NHS Evergreen Assessment and government expectations.
Healthcare companies and NHS suppliers are facing stricter carbon reporting requirements. PPN 006 and the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap make robust, auditable carbon reduction plans essential for winning and retaining contracts.
By April 2027, every NHS supplier must publicly report:

An intuitive, accessible platform to measure your full Scope 1, 2 and 3 footprint — and take ownership of your climate action with confidence.
Create a Carbon Reduction Plan that meets PPN 06/21 (PPN 006) procurement requirements. Structured with baseline data, reduction targets, and planned actions — formatted for NHS and government tender submissions.
Measure your complete carbon footprint using the latest DEFRA conversion factors and GHG Protocol methodology. Covers energy, fleet, travel, purchased goods, services and waste — the full picture the NHS Supplier Roadmap requires.
Produce clear, credible carbon footprint reports covering all emission scopes. Formatted for procurement submissions, NHS framework responses and internal board reporting.
Send your suppliers a tailored questionnaire, collect their emissions data, and build a verifiable Scope 3 footprint. Replace spend-based estimates with actuals over time — what procurement teams increasingly want to see.
Add third-party verification to your footprint and Carbon Reduction Plan. Adds credibility for NHS procurement, framework responses and public net zero commitments — at a price designed for SMEs, not consultancy rates.
Identify your highest-emission areas, create realistic reduction actions, and track progress year on year. Evidence that you are reducing — not just measuring — which is what the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap progressively demands.
Use the Climate Essentials for Business platform — with the Scope 3 Advanced module — to measure your Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and write your own Carbon Reduction Plan, with our step-by-step guidance available throughout.

PPN 06/21, the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap, Scope 3, verification, answered simply.
PPN 06/21 (now transitioning to PPN 006) is a Procurement Policy Note that requires suppliers bidding on UK government contracts above £5 million per year to publish a Carbon Reduction Plan. If you supply to the NHS through frameworks or direct contracts, this increasingly applies.
The NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap extends these requirements further, requiring all NHS suppliers to report emissions and demonstrate reduction activity by 2027, regardless of contract value.
The NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap sets out progressive requirements for all NHS suppliers. From April 2027, every supplier — regardless of contract size — must publicly report their Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, publish a Carbon Reduction Plan aligned with the NHS net zero target, and set a credible net zero target.
From April 2028, additional requirements will come into force for carbon footprinting of individual products supplied to the NHS. By 2030, suppliers that cannot demonstrate progress risk losing access to NHS contracts entirely.
Yes. The platform helps you measure your Scope 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions, set a baseline year, define reduction targets and document planned actions, all structured to meet PPN 06/21 (PPN 006) requirements.
You can export a formatted report ready for tender submissions. With our Managed Service, our team writes and reviews the CRP for you.
The self-serve platform starts from £132 per year. Most carbon consultancies charge thousands for an initial footprint and CRP.
Climate Essentials is specifically designed for SMEs who need to comply with procurement requirements without the budget for a consultancy engagement. The Managed Service (where our team does the work for you) is available at a tailored quote and is still a fraction of typical consultancy costs.
Yes. The NHS Supplier Roadmap requires measurement across all three scopes, including Scope 3. For most healthcare suppliers, Scope 3 includes purchased goods and services, business travel, employee commuting, waste and upstream logistics.
The platform supports spend-based, activity-based and hybrid calculation methods, so you can start with the data you have and improve accuracy over time.
Yes. Climate Essentials offers independent, third-party verification of your carbon footprint and Carbon Reduction Plan. We issue GHG Protocol or ISO 14064-3 aligned verification statements.
Verification adds credibility for NHS procurement submissions, framework responses and public commitments. It is priced for SMEs, so our verification service is designed to be accessible to businesses of all sizes.
Suppliers that cannot demonstrate compliance with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap risk being excluded from NHS procurement frameworks and contract renewals.
The NHS has stated that carbon data will be embedded into procurement evaluation criteria progressively, meaning suppliers without credible emissions data and reduction plans will be at a competitive disadvantage well before formal exclusion.
Depending on data availability and business complexity, it can range from a few hours to 2 weeks. With the Managed Service, our team typically delivers a complete and verified footprint and Carbon Reduction Plan report within 5 days.
The main variable is how quickly you can provide activity data (energy bills, travel records, spend data), the platform and our team handle everything else.
